PROOF OF CONFORMITY OF CREDITS AWARDED AND WORKLOAD

The development of human life, which is supported by modern technology, requires the Mechanical Engineering Education undergraduate study program to adapt constantly. So, that curriculum restructuring is needed periodically. It is in line with the regulation stipulated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia No. 3 of 2020 concerning providing opportunities for students to develop their abilities according to their talents and interests through the Merdeka Learning Campus (MBKM) activity.

The Workload for the Introduction to School Field Course (PLP), which was four credits, has been revised to 20 credits. It is based on a policy that four credits are not following the workload of PLP 40 hours per week in two months in SMK. In addition, to improve the competence and experience of students in teaching, the PLP implementation time, which was two months, was changed to five months. A description of the PLP workload can be seen in the table below.

In addition to the PLP, internship courses have also been revised from 2 credits to 20 credits. It is based on the policy that two credits are not suitable for the internship workload. They did 40 hours per week for 1.5 to 2 months in the industry. The time for the internship, which was 1.5 to 2 months, was changed to 5 months. It was done to improve the competence and experience in the industry. A description of the internship's workload can be seen in Table 2.

In the 20 credits internship, students learn a complete skill package outside of the study program. For example, they learned how to manage a car/motorcycle dealer/repair shop. These skills include engineering as a mechanic and management as a manager. The number of 20 credits was reduced to 8 courses: program planning, occupational safety and health, program design, operational management, program implementation, program reporting, program assessment, and program dissemination.

For PLP 20 credits, for five months in SMK, students will be maximized in their role as teachers in SMK because they are required to be able to plan, develop learning tools, evaluate, analyze curriculum to study school management. The number of 20 credits was reduced to 8 courses: school management, curriculum analysis, school program development, lesson plan development, learning media development, teaching materials development, teaching practice, and learning assessment.

With the PLP system of 20 credits, students are expected to get to know the school work earlier and gain more experience. This experience allows students to determine the thesis that can be obtained at the beginning, middle, or end of the PLP implementation. It encourages students to complete their studies on time for eight semesters. The research topic raised in this final project is related to the field of mechanical engineering education.
